WOO!!

Today I got to work an extra 2 hours. Hooray for pocket book, boo for the weekend. This was supposed to be my first weekend off in a year or so. Of course something happened. The assistant manager walked in and quit today. That means my weekend has been ended. I didn't really have that much planned so it's not that bad. I still have Sunday completely off but I have to open on Saturday. There is a tiny buzz about a possible promotion. It was mentioned 4 times today and once even by the manager lady. I'm not holding my breath. The former assistant manager asked for my # so he could call me for some computer work. It would mainly be typing up documents and junk. Why the hell not! I can always use some extra bucks.

I am now convinced that all the squirrels in the Denver Metro area are suicidal! I am seeing more and more dead ones.

Anyway...

I worked late all last weekend and wasn't able to attend any Halloween functions. Not that I was invited to any. On Tuesday I had the day off and so I painted my face and put on some of my old club clothes to hand out candy in. I didn't get as many trick-or-treaters as I would have liked. I have a ton of candy left over. I had one girl that was shocked to discover that I was indeed white underneath my makeup. I will post a picture of what I looked like soon. I am looking forward to being social this weekend. Ya know with the people getting married and engaged and crap.

It has come to my attention that I have become WAY too anti-social as of late. I see myself developing social phobias and that kinda scares me. It is really easy for me to just withdraw and stay inside. I am forcing myself to call people and answer my phone even if it reads "Unknown Caller". This is part of making changes in my life that will hopefully benefit me in some small way. Here's to me trying to change things instead of just bitching about them. Wish me luck!

Regional Manager=Flaming Cunt Puss Fucker

District Manager=Anal Retentive Douche Bag

Manager=Retired School Teacher who is kinda shitty to the cashiers but is cool to me!

Assistant Manager= Cool but leaving in a week.

Other 3rd key= Been there forever so she gets special treatment but is still nice to me

Cashiers= 2 of 'em are pretty friggin rad.

Receiver=Likes to talk a lot but has a good heart!

The Moron=Every store has one and he is it! He is an unending fountain of dumb!

The new job is keeping me plenty busy. At least I can't complain about being bored anymore. Nor about having nobody to talk to. These are good things. Now the bad. I have not received proper training on closing the store. I do my best but I know I make mistakes. A lot of 'em too! I don't seem to mind though. I had 3 days of training before they left me alone. What do they expect? I have also been shorthanded on help every night this week. WHOOOO!!!!!!!!! I have learned that this is the starter store and most people transfer out rather quickly. Here's hopin'!!

I'm really digging my new job but it is totally kicking my ass. In a good way though. It is nice to be challenged again. However, it's also forcing me to realize my weaknesses and insecurities. My coworkers seem cool. I haven't met them all yet. My manager is VERY much a stickler for things being done her way. Total retired school teacher. There are a lot of things to remember when closing the store. I guess that's what I get for working for corporate America. I will write more when I can. Right now I kinda ache all over. I need a massage.

I got some muffins and an iTunes gift card as a going away present from O&Co. The people at Godiva gave me some chocolate covered strawberries. Yum! This was the first job in a long time that I didn't feel a little sad on my last day. I guess that means that I am embracing this change whole hearted-ly. Now I just have to figure out what to buy with my gift card. Any suggestions?

MC Chris friggin' OWNED on Saturday night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's amazing to me how entertaining he can be with just a microphone and a laptop. The best 15 bucks I have spent in a while. He is one of the most grateful and humble performers I have ever met. I was thoroughly impressed when he ran up and did a song in the under age balcony. Kudos to you MC Chris!

I went to my new job today to fill out all of my paper work and meet my new boss. He seems nice enough. I found out that I will be getting benefits within 30 days!!!! That means that I get to be medicated again. HUZZAH!! I also got a call from my old boss. She countered my new position with a raise of $1.23 more per hour with the same hours I am getting now and no benefits. Um... Yeah, No!!! She went on about how she would like to keep me and how it would be awful to lose me before the Holiday season. She could have kept me if she would have given me full time hours and benefits instead of the girl who has less seniority than me. It's a case of too little too late. Also there is a lot of room to grow with the company I am going to, whereas there is no place for me to go with O&Co. Oh, and selling olive oil is the most boring job I have EVER had. It is kinda nice to be fought over though.

Laundromats are MAGICAL!!!

One thing I miss about living in the city is going to the Laundromat. I love to watch all the people there. Usually they have arcade games from 10 years ago to play. If you are really lucky there will be pinball. I miss the sound of multiple washers and dryers whirring along making a subtle symphony. Hanging out at the laundromat seems to give me a sense of peace that I don't find too often. My favorite one (so far) is on 9th and Corona in Denver. If you ever have to go to one and need some company please give me a call. I would love to join you if I am able.

Did you know that there is a castle in Colorado? I went there today. The guy who built it is a total nut job but he does have some valid points.

Afterwords Hayes, our friend Lorne, and I went to the Colorado State Fair. I had a turkey leg, roasted corn, a funnel cake, and some ice cream.
YUM!! We went on 2 rides but sadly the ride operators had all their teeth and didn't appear to be on Crystal Meth. Maybe I just expect to much from Carnies. There was a cheesy diving show and a petting zoo. Good Times!

I bought a pair of gloves today. To most people this isn't a big deal. It kinda is to me. It has been 4 years since I have had my last pair. I seem to have been constitutionally incapable of buying them until now. I really didn't need them because I used to walk everywhere and put my hands in my pocket. It's a reminder to me of how much progress I have made in the last 13 months. I learned this morning that one needs gloves when riding a scooter in 40 degree weather. It took half of my lunch break to find a pair this early in September. I finally found a pair at Urban Outfitters and totally overpaid for them. I tried to find a picture of them to show you but apparently they don't exist on da interweb.

Oh and if you get a chance pick up the new MC Chris album. I can't wait to see him live.

The past kicked me in the ass

Lets take a trip back to May of 2002. I made one of the most important decisions of my life. I ended the most toxic relationship I have ever had. To put it nicely he took all my money and put it up his nose. That was the final nail in the coffin. I probably should have ended it sooner but I was young and didn’t know any better. I put up with a lot of crap that I probably shouldn’t have. It’s taken me a long time to get over all the things that happened between he and I. As a matter of fact I’m still not over everything but I’m working on that. The reason I bring this up is because I saw him yesterday. I was sitting with some friends at Diedrichs having an iced tea when he walked by. I’ve often wondered what I would do if I saw him again. Apparently my eyes get real big and all the color drains from my face. What I really wanted to do was tell him that I thought his sunglasses went well with his coke habit and then tell him to keep walking. It’s surprising to me that he is still alive. I guess I still harbor a lot of resentment towards him. I have come a long way in the last 4 years but I know that I have to deal with my past in order to have a livable future. It’s just so fucking hard.

(P.S. He REALLY looked like shit)

I found myself a little nostalgic for my club kid days today. Dancing to only a select few songs and judging the hell out of everyone else. All while praising myself because I am fabulous damn it!! Ahh... the good old days. I got to thinking and it turns out the only part I really miss is the dressing up in wacky outfits and wearing an ungodly amount of makeup. One could never have enough glitter. What I don't miss is all the drama, hangovers, and lack of sleep. It's good to grow up but somtimes I still miss that world
